Welcome to our little space on the net! This blog is just about our family life, and began as a way to keep family and friends updated on what was going on with my pregnancy with our first son, Gage. We've since added Evie to our family, and I continue to blog about family life, car seats, spina bifida, and anything else that catches my attention.

Thursday, Aug 17 Shower at the VA

Thursday was a LONG and busy day! We went to Dr. Wyatt first. I was checked but no progress to report. He gave us the low-down on when to go to the hospital without calling.

Then we went to the VA for our lunch-time shower in the ICU. There was food EVERYWHERE!!! We had 10 racks of ribs and all kinds of sides. Then we had 4 different kinds of dessert! The food was SO good! We go so many nice things, including lots of diapers, which we still needed. People were so generous! I got to meet Matt and Pam, Tony's coworker and his wife, and their 2 boys, Carter and Owen. Own is 2, I think, and has spina bifida. Tony and Matt have been talking a lot about what they went through and it has been really helpful to us. It was great to meet Owen! He is SO cute!

Then we had some time to kill before the work-related dinner that evening, so we went to see Shrek 3 at the dollar movie, which we weren't impressed with, but it was something to do. We got to Trios for the dinner a little early, so we sat in the car for a while. We went in and the meeting room was hot even though the staff said the thermostat was turned down all the way. The more people that showed up the hotter it got! Matt was giving a presentation at the dinner and Pam and Tony's other coworkers sat with us. The food was good but the room stayed SO HOT!! There were some really rude people that that talked through Matt's presentation and then had the gall to ask questions at the end (questions that had been answered in the presentation). Matt did a great job, though, and Tony said he was sure he could do that (Tony will be working a couple of times a month doing something similar for the same company). Anyway it was a good day, but we were exhausted when it was over!

Sounds like a good day! Baby showers are so much fun but one with ribs, totally awesome!
