Welcome to our little space on the net! This blog is just about our family life, and began as a way to keep family and friends updated on what was going on with my pregnancy with our first son, Gage. We've since added Evie to our family, and I continue to blog about family life, car seats, spina bifida, and anything else that catches my attention.

6 Months Old

WOW! Where have the last 6 months gone?

Gage's YAY list:

  • Daddy
  • Mommy
  • Katie- thinks she's hilarious. Loves to grab at her. She just takes it.
  • Rocky-he's not as patient. He usually runs off if Gage reaches for him
  • mirrors- thinks he's pretty cute.
  • baths
  • his feet- just discovered them and likes to grab them
  • sitting up- doesn't' last long, but he thinks it's fun while it lasts
  • arching his back and throwing his head back- this has almost gotten him a knot on his head on several occasions
  • banging things
  • little people- he loves other babies and children
  • anyone that will talk to him- such a friendly little guy
  • his thumb or fist
  • faces- if he gets close enough, he will grab
  • riding around in his sling with mommy
Gage's BOO list
  • naps
  • his binky
  • anything to eat or drink besides breastmilk. He got sweet potatoes a couple of days ago (his 1st food!) and he tolerated it at first, but no more. He spits it out. Water in a cup is the same.
  • the weed eater (discovered that today)
  • being left without anyone talking to him for more than a few minutes
  • riding in the car at night, although this has gotten better
  • going to bed at a decent hour
  • teeth-one coming in on top has been giving him fits

  • As of last Saturday, he weighs a little over 21lbs and is 28" long.
  • He has started reaching for us when he wants to be picked up. He does this mostly when he is in the high chair and I walk close, but the other night, Tony came home from work and I was holding him. When Tony sat down beside him, Gage reached out to him....Awwww!
  • He is trying to roll back to front but hasn't made it yet. He can get one knee up under him at a time when on his tummy.
  • He is close to sitting alone. He can do it for a while, then "forgets" and topples.
  • I have to wear my hair up a lot because he gets fistfulls and pulls. OUCH!
  • I think he gives kisses. He gets smooched on so much that it makes sense to me that he would. He holds your face, pulls it close, and touches you with his open mouth, usually kind of smiling. He doesn't try to bite or suck, so I say it's a kiss.
  • He makes some fun sounds- dadada, mamama, bababa, cccccc
  • as I said above, we started solids. Sweet potatoes were 1st and weren't a hit. I also think they were messing with his sleep so we are going to lay off for a few days and see how it goes.
I may come back and edit if I think of more, but I have an erand to run, so I'll post.

Gage is sooo cute!! Conner is not too far behind him, weighing in at 17.6 pounds and 26" long. Like Gage, Conner arches his back and pitches fits, however he loves his binky. I'm so glad he's doing well.

Jess, where did the last 6 months go? It sounds like he is doing all of those REALLY cute new things! It gets better as they discover more sounds and begin to form opinions :) Thanks for the fun update!!
