Welcome to our little space on the net! This blog is just about our family life, and began as a way to keep family and friends updated on what was going on with my pregnancy with our first son, Gage. We've since added Evie to our family, and I continue to blog about family life, car seats, spina bifida, and anything else that catches my attention.

Gage is 3!
Gage turned 3 years old on Saturday, August 28. I am trying really hard to avoid the cliches that you often read that go along with milestones like this, but I can't, so I'm going to use them all. WOW! Where have the last 3 years gone? I couldn't have imagined we'd be here. He's getting so big! There, how's that? It's all true!
Three years ago Tony and I were living in various hotel rooms in Little Rock and visiting our big boy in the NICU at Children's. He had just undergone his 2nd surgery to place a shunt, and I had just gotten to hold him for the first time. We were days away from going home. It seems like ages ago now.
Gage is now walking really really well. He still falls sometimes, but is getting better every day. He "runs" too, but really nothing changes from walking to running but the pitch of his voice when he does it. He is in PT 2 hours a week and still doing well and making progress with his "Weesha".
The kid never shuts up. He talks ALL. THE. TIME! I often hear him in his room singing one thing or another. He seems to always mimic certain commercials on TV- The Activia commercial and the birth control one that they sing the days of the week are the 2 that I notice the most.
Gage still loves people and is one of the friendliest kids I've ever met. He greets just about everybody we come in contact with and will say "Are you doin' alwhite?" When we go somewhere, he goes through his list of people we see often and asks if we are going to see them. At therapy, he is friends with everybody. He will often go back to Derek's office and visit, and now he calls the front desk and talks to Rebecca while he's there. We're going to have to start showing up early so he can get his social time in without shortening his PT time.
One of my favorite things right now is how Gage prays. It is the sweetest thing in the world. Last night he said "Dear God, Thank you so much day. Thank you for Evie and Mama, and Daddy. Thank you Jesus Loves Me. Jesus name, Amen." At the dinner table he usually asks that "Daddy get home" and thanks God specifically for the food on his plate. Last night, it was "thank you for these pork chops."
Gage still loves Evie to death. He sometimes gets too rough and she'll cry, but for the most part, she thinks he's a riot. He is great at locating lost binkies.
Thank you to everyone that still follows this blog. It's been a wonderful 3 years for the Fincher family!
