Welcome to our little space on the net! This blog is just about our family life, and began as a way to keep family and friends updated on what was going on with my pregnancy with our first son, Gage. We've since added Evie to our family, and I continue to blog about family life, car seats, spina bifida, and anything else that catches my attention.

Evie at 17 months

I often use my blog as a baby book, so here I go again.

Evie had a well baby appointment today, at 17 months and 1 day.  She missed the 12 and 15 month appointments...Woops!

Weight: 21 lbs 12 oz- peanut at 25th percentile
Height 31.5" 50th percentile
Head circumference 19"- 90th percentile!

So she's shaped kind of like a Tootsie Pop.

I took Evie to an eye doctor last week.  We had noticed that she did weird things with her eyes, then 2 other people mentioned it too.  When she looks at you sideways, the eye further away will drift up instead of keeping focused on what she's looking at.  It happens with both eyes, so it's not as simple as just patching the eye that stays focused.

The eye doc said she thinks her acuity is normal, and wants to see her back in 6 months.

Evie is a funny girl.  She can be sweet and cuddly, but can also throw a temper tantrum when she doesn't get her way, and will scream like a pterodactyl.  She will play well for a long time with Gage, but lets him know it's not okay to take a toy from her.  She's independent and wants to do things on her own.  She talks, but not nearly as much as her brother.  She signs a lot, though, and can let you know what she wants.

Some of her words are: Daddy, Mama, diaper, puppy, Gage (Geesh), byebye, hi, please (pees), pretty (pitty).  She can often immitate whatever you say to her, though, so she says a lot more than that.

Some of her signs: Please, thank you, more, cracker, diaper, byebye, Daddy, Mama, hat, dog (puppy), eat, drink.  I know she knows more than that, but these are the ones she uses consistently.

Evie is my artist.  Gage STILL shows very little interest in drawing or coloring, but Evie....now Evie is destined for great things...

She also might have a future working with water, or plumbing.  She gets into trouble ALL. THE. TIME. for playing in the potty.  We try to remember to close the door, but Gage is seemingly obsessed with opening and closing all the doors, so it doesn't always work to keep her out.  GROSS! GROSS! GROSS!!!

I don't have a recent picture, but Evie is also still riding rear-facing in the car, per the new AAP and NHTSA guidelines.  She has at least another year and 1/2 to ride that way, just as Gage did.  She's still in her Graco MyRide 65, which we love for its ease of use, and purple cover ;).

Well, she just woke up from her nap, so I better wrap this up!
