Gage has grown and matured so much in the last year! He ended 2010 concerning us with losing function again, so in January, just after Evie's 1st birthday, he had surgery again. We decided in the midst of all of this to take him to see Dr. Boop, in Memphis. Dr. Boop has a lot of experience with complicated kids with spina bifida. We have been so happy with him! Surgery went well, the cyst that was causing problems was removed, and Gage recovered quickly
He didn't regain lost function this time like he did with the last surgery, but he has slowly improved. He (usually) works so hard in therapy and now likes to "run" (read: fast-walk) wherever he's going. Yesterday during our walk in the woods and down to the creek, he really did well on some rough ground that would have been impossible for him a year ago.
Gage continues to prove how smart he is. He's picking up phonics quickly. He loves to ask about to work out family relationships. He knows that Maw Maw is my mother and Nana is Daddy's mother. When we sing at church, he wants the song book turned to the correct page number.
He is still the friendlies kid I know. He has started saying "nice to meet you" when he meets a new friend. He loves Bible class and our preschool co-op days. He is usually sweet to his sister, and hugs and kisses her as often as he takes something away from her.
I can't believe I have a 4 year old!! It has been such a blessing to be his mother!
